Kan Cicekleri episode 184

Episode 184 A Heartrending Loss

A quick word before we begin:
I'm a little devastated. I still can't believe they killed off Kerem. It took a while before I could get back to the show. I was avoiding moment and needed some time

Quick synopsis: A death in the family. A bigger baddie. A great sorrow.

The opening shot confirms the events we were hoping against. Baran is a pall bearer as a casket is carried toward new graves.
Kerem has died.

We see his death in a flashback. They use the defibrillator a bunch of times and then put the paddles away. The flatline beep is steady and they start pulling equipment off him. The sheet is pulled over him. It's done. Baran is devastated. So are we. Dilan's family are also pall bearers alongside Baran and his family.
This is gonna be a bummer episode, y'all.
After saying goodbye to Kerem in the hospital, Baran breaks down and hangs off Dilan.
Baran and the boys fill in his grave. Sabiha shows up at the funeral. Only Dilan sees her and their exchange is kind and brief. Everyone leaves except Baran but it's unspoken that Dilan won't leave him. Ahmet's words of condolence are the last spoken.

Cevriye discovered from the letter that Dilan's real mother is named Esra Vilmaz. And by extension, that she was adopted.

Sabiha has to make a stop on the way home from the funeral. It's to see Cevahir.
Finally.
Here we go:
He's cheesy. And looks a little like Cihan, which is unsettling. Havin either doesn't know who he is or doesn't trust him. She holds up her hand when he asks her to sit. She will stand thanks. I guess he and Sabiha were business partners, who recently made a bunch of money. And somewhere in there is his help in partnership with her revenge on Baran. She has come to withdraw from whatever deal they had. He squeezes his gloved hand. Havin watches carefully. He's not so inclined and gives a very dismissive, chiding, derisive, almost vampiric and very deliberate teeth-suck. There is nothing quick-tempered or emotional about it. Much as I abuse Baran for the times he does it, they come from an honest place, in the moment, and are reactionary, almost without thought. It's part of what makes them so amusing to me. This one from Cevahir is calculated and meant to demean, to put Sabiha in her (supposed) place. It definitely sets him up as a bigger, meaner villain.
He walks behind her, specifically to be menacing, and glances up at Havin too, so she knows as well, flexing his abusive power, and says "No, our partnership stands".
Sabiha is tough though and she doesn't back down. She has her say as well. It helps that she's so tall. When she stands up to leave, she literally stands up to him.
But I sense she'll need Baran's help with this guy in the future.
Cevahir has some angry ticks. He's going to be a good villain.

Baran is crying big ole tears, rolling down his face and nose. Hands in the mounds of grave dirt. This is so hard to watch.

Salih shows up. Again. My dude. Just...no. He's there to offer support, so it's fine, I guess. The family sees him as they pass by coming back from the funeral.

Baran talks about memories of Kerem, how he should have made more time for him. Regret is a black hole, Dilan says. If you fall in you'll never get out. You loved each other. That's what matters. And who doesn't want more time?* Love is bottomless too, though, like regret. You can never get enough of those you love. Baran is a little heartened by this. Your loved ones should come before all else. They lean into each other and they hold each other.

Firat can't let it go. He has to know what Gul meant the other day about believing Derya's lies over her. He comes up behind her at the sink and we have a juxtaposition to Cevahir's creepy version vs. Firat wants to be secretive and close. Gul, like a champ, says go ask her (you toad).

Kerem's parents are at the mansion. His mom compares Kerem and Dilan, how big hearted they are. Hasan tries not to choke. Even Azade is sad.
Gah. Baran gets a voicemail from Kerem: Fishing date on the calendar; documents emailed.
We die a little more inside.
Ahmet stops by as Baran and Cihan are talking. It's Ahmet of course, but it still doesn't change the fact that Kerem is gone. Kudret tries too. Baran especially feels responsible because he asked Kerem to keep an eye on Derya and not let her leave. Kudret does the "look me in the eye" thing to him. No one can stop death. He hugs him tight.

Seyit is still looking into Sabiha.

Baran falls over on the bed and rests his head in Dilan's lap. She strokes his hair and offers more words of comfort. The camera angle on Baran is jarring, meant to convey his weariness. In his sleep he remembers Kerem's wave back to him (I knew that was going to come into play) and of Kerem in the hospital, saying "Don't leave me". He vows never to lose anyone again.
Oh boy. That's going to be difficult.

Firat goes to see Derya in prison.** She is unrepentant. But he's really there to confront her about lying to Gul. She sends him back to Hasan. The rat.
Sabiha visits the mansion. Baran looks to Dilan. She assures him Sabiha poses no threat anymore. She is there only to pay condolences, Havin too. Baran gets a call that interrupts them.
Damn, for a second I forgot it wasn't Kerem on the other end of the line. ðŸ˜¥
Sabiha is moving. She actually came to say goodbye. She is repentant. Dilan isn't forgiving exactly, but wants to part ways peaceably.
Someone is driving up in a black car as they are walking away. We get a slow pan up from the black shoes, to see the black gloved hand before seeing the face of the visitor.***
Sabiha's lip practically curls.
Cevahir has come to pay his respects. He uses Baran's first name. Baran uses his. They know each other.
Sabiha's face says this whole situation just went down the toilet.

Yelling at the tv:
*This is such a great piece of advice. It does the "you're right" bit and also makes so much sense, takes such a weight off.
***How. the frick. do these men have such incredibly long eyelashes?!
I miss Kerem. This sucks. We find out (I find out, you might already know) his name means nobility, generosity, heart of gold. Suckity, suck, sucks, I tell you.

Culturisms:
**Slamming the hand down seems to be a pretty standard gesture too. Even Firat gets to do it in this episode, a few times.

Teaser 185:
Dilan has found out Cevdet and Cevriye are having twins. She tells Baran. They'll visit because there's no time like the present. Kerem's death has Baran feeling pressure to seize the day. No more delays. Especially with things concerning her. The Karabey boys also discuss Cevahir and Sabiha, respectively.
